A view from the tiny garden of the Mølsted Museum in the coastal town of Dragoer on the island of Amager near Copenhagen. The city houses are very idyllic, nearly all of them painted yellow and many with thatched roofs. Some 150 years ago the habour of Dragoer was the third most busy habour in Denmark. The Mølsted Museum is one of the smallest in Denmark. It is situated in the studio of the painter Christan Mølsted (1862-1930) and has a small exhibitions of his work. Born and bred in the coastal town, he painted ships and naval scenes from a very young age. He later attended the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen, but naval scenes and the sea stayed his favourite subjects. Photo: Tina Høegh Nielsen |
