ABOUT ART AND ARCHITECTURE

This blog is NEW and therefore still incomplete. Have patience - more will be added shortly.

Near Odense you can find Den Fynske landsby (The Funen Village) - an open air museum of farmhouses, vickarige and a tipical country windmill (photo). This kind of wind mill was found all over Denmark in the 18th and 19th century. To make it even more tipical of the previous centuries, the cattle is Rød Dansk Malkerace (Red Danish Milk Cattle)! July 2014.

From Museum Amager, located on the island of Amager, near Copenhagen. The little museum tells the story of the special occasion in 1523 when the Danish king Christan 2. gave the whole island to a group of Dutch farmers. The only condition was that they had to farm the land and provide the king and court as well as the city of Copenhagen with fruit and vegetables. So they settled here and became a sort of Dutch 'colony' being allowed to live under Dutch law instead of Danish for the next 300 years. Many of their traditions has lived on among their descendants in Denmark.

The roses are now in bloom. Here from the garden at the island Langeland where the Rose de Rescht shares it's magnificent flowers (and perfume) with everyone that passes by.
